Bad Ideas Of Our Time #20

Giving up caffeine.

Especially giving up caffeine immediately after having spent Christmas at home, where the parents are in the habit of making a cup of tea or coffee roughly every 8 minutes.

Oh yeah, I know it'll seem like a great idea in a couple of days' time when I feel all spry and awake first thing in the morning, and when people comment on how bright-eyed I'm looking.

People:  My, my, you're looking bright-eyed. Look how bright her eyes are.

More people:  Yes, indeed, they are very bright.

YAAGs:  Why, thank you. I've given up caffeine, you know.

But now, right now, I would like the person who stuffed my head with wire wool to come and remove it ASAFP. And the little imps with jackhammers can bugger off as well. Thank you.

Oh. Is there something wrong with caffeine, then? Ah.

It's a drug. And I want some.
*weeps quietly*

Not only bright eyed, but bushy tailed!
I gave up caffeine on several occasions, I don't think I was particularly bright-eyed about it, but I did find I was drinking too much coffee and getting completely hyper at work - couldn't sit down for 5 minutes.
My routine now is caf am and decaf pm.
Is getting older all about tea and coffee every 8 minutes? My parents are just the same...
And nice to see you again

Did you know that decaf is really bad for you? Not kidding Daxy - the chemicals they use to strip out the caffeine are worse for your heart than the caffeine is. How I laughed when I read that .....

Which is why I am now limiting myself to all-natural redbush tea.
*sighs*
*dreams of grande lattes*
